Careful not to get T-Don's heavy gauge rubboard. I got one years ago and keep it as a collectors item, but don't play it -- don't Too thick and
sound is too "ringy". Need a thinner rubboard. He signs his, which is good. You can also try www.LarkInTheMorning.com
-- Search for "rub board", not "rubboard" or "frottois" on that website. |

I've had T Don's frottoir's and I'd pass on it for a playing instrument. I've chased down LarkInTheMorning and that was a joke. Finally
talked to Keith Frank and it lead me to Raymond Himel of CHAMPAGNE SHEET METAL WORKS. He's featured in the book Cajun Music and Zydeco by barry Jean
Ancelet. I found his scrub to be of the right guage and size. It comes flat so just put your knee to it in the middle and bend it out a bit, a little swoop in
the bottom makes a nice take off for some different cadence. O'yeah I've had Larry Miller's....too light. Address: 338 THOROUGHBRED DR Lafayette,
LA 70507 Phone: 337-896-5806

Yeah, I just got two different ones from Lark in the Morning -- one galvanized and one stainless steel. Both are too loud and metalic sounding -- one is
actually clangy. I should have kept on looking for an aluminum one. I'm going to see if Lark in the Morning will take them back. I just can't use them.
Anybody know where I can get a real quality aluminum one in a hurry? I'll look up CHAMPAGNE SHEET METAL WORKS and see what I come up with. |

Check with Remi Savoy in Eunice.
He makes all sizes and gauges for a good price. 337-457-7080 (This number is from the phone book, so I am not sure if it's correct.) Good luck, DP
