I have been looking for a accordion and saw some interesting ones at Accordion Heaven... Used ones that are lightweight and under 1 grand... www.accordionheaven.com/c...E1500.html I am not that experienced and would like to know what some of you who know a lot about the whole accordion experience thinks about some of the accordions on this site.... I have to have a lightweight accordion and I would like to have the best one for the price... :-)

Ken Mahler is the owner. He's very knowledgeable about a range of accordions, and performed with a band for many years at the Mancini Club in St. Paul.
He's not very good about answering e-mail, but will be happy to answer your questions if you call. I bought an accordion from him that he had in on
consignment, and I've been very happy with him.

Bottom line is that the weight of a Piano accordian is directly proportional to the number of sets of reeds.
If you are happy with a LM setup you will find most accordians lightweight relative to their size. The 72 bass LMM Chinese accordians that I have seen are quite light, but I am afraid that some of the weight loss is due to less stable materials used in the construction... so if your intention is to gig the accordian, stick to Italian... which are proven durable. Titano makes a line that includes some KICKASS 50 bass small accordians... not cheap, but small & light, Contact Deffner & Co in Mineola, NY. |
